SUBJECT:SEP 7-03 SHOOTING @ BRANDYWINE AVE. & ALBANY ST.

Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred last night at about 10:55 p.m. in front of the Royal Fried Chicken restaurant at 1100 Albany Street, in which 4 people were injured.

Two groups of people happened upon each other in front the restaurant. Words were exchanged among some people in the groups who were acquainted with each other. During the confrontation, a black male (no further description) pulled out a sawed-off shotgun and fired one round of birdshot at the other group, striking 4 of them. Both groups then ran from the area before police arrived.

A 17-year-old male sustained lower leg injuries, a 15-year-old female and 14-year-old female each sustained arm and lower leg injuries, and a 16-year-old female sustained a superficial back injury. All of the victims were treated at St. Clare’s Hospital. None of the injuries is life threatening.

There are no suspects in custody.

The investigation is continuing.
