SUBJECT:: ARRESTS MADE IN SEPTEMBER 21ST SUMMIT AVENUE CRASH
The occupants of the car that sped away from a State Street traffic stop and then crashed into a tree on Summit Avenue late on Tuesday, September 21st, have been charged with several felonies in connection with the incident.
The driver – Kailille Jenkins (20) – has been charged with Assault-2nd degree and Reckless Endangerment-1st degree for the injuries his passenger – Jaad Sackey-el (17) – sustained in the crash. Both Jenkins and Sackey-el were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance-3rd degree and CPCS-4th degree after 138 pieces of crack cocaine were found inside the car.
In addition, Jenkins is also charged as a “fugitive from justice” on a bench warrant from the Richland County, South Carolina Court. In April, Jenkins failed to appear in court on armed robbery, kidnapping, and possession of a weapon charges.
Jenkins is still hospitalized at Albany Medical Center and is in the custody of the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Department.
Sackey-el has been released from Albany Med and posted bail this afternoon.
