A suspect has been identified in the homicide that occurred at about 1:45 Thursday morning at State and Catherine Streets.

James Bowman, III (a.k.a. “Pay Me”), 20, of 28 Chestnut Street in Schenectady is wanted for questioning in the shooting death of 24-year-old Lamont Faulks.

Faulks and his girlfriend were walking and having a verbal argument when Bowman rode by on a bicycle and made a comment to Faulks. That started an argument between the two men during which Bowman pulled out a handgun and shot Faulks in the head and lower back. Bowman then jumped from the bike and ran south on Martin Street toward Albany Street. Faulks, also of Chestnut Street, was transported to St. Clare’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Faulks and Bowman were acquainted with each other.

Bowman is a black male with medium skin tone, 5’8”, 160 lbs., black hair, brown eyes, with a light mustache and goatee, and longish hair pulled back in a pony tail. He was wearing a black knit hat and a black hooded sweatshirt at the time of the incident.

Bowman is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to immediately call Schenectady Police at 382-5263.
