SUBJECT:MAN ARRESTED FOR FACILITATING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTíS TRUANCY

In a continuing effort to curb truancy in city schools, School Resource Officers arrested a 19-year-old city man this morning for helping a Schenectady High School student leave school without permission.

Phameswar Tillack, of 955 Albany Street, is charged with the misdemeanors of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Trespass-3rd degree.

At about 9:50 a.m., Tillack waited in a vehicle in the school parking lot for the 15-year-old male student. The student left the school without permission and rode away with Tillack.

School personnel and School Resource Officers have been using surveillance measures at the high school to combat the truancy problem and they were instrumental in this arrest.

The Police Department and the school district will continue to aggressively target truants and non-students who facilitate truancy.

Tillack was arraigned in Police Court and released. He will return to court at a later date.
