A 34-year-old city man was arrested this morning shortly after robbing a Van Vranken Avenue discount store that is just blocks from his home.

Kenneth Stuckey, of 532 Lang Street, entered the Family Dollar discount store and waited in line behind another customer who was checking out. While the cash register drawer was open, Stuckey reached over the counter, pushed the female clerk out of the way and grabbed money from the drawer. The clerk sustained a minor hand injury when she tried to prevent Stuckey from taking the money from the register. Stuckey left the store and rode away on a bicycle. Within 2 minutes after the robbery call, Sergeant Joseph Peters observed a man (Stuckey) fitting the robbery suspectís description on nearby Foster Avenue. Stuckey was subsequently identified as the man who committed the robbery.

Stuckey is charged with Robbery-3rd degree. He was arraigned in Police Court and remanded to the Schenectady County Jail.
