The 22-year-old Schenectady woman who reported that she was abducted while walking on Duane Avenue last Friday evening has been charged with fabricating the incident, apparently out of revenge after the man she accused didn’t pay her for a sex act she performed on him.

Cheryl Dellairo, of 527 Summit Avenue, told detectives that she was walking by herself on Duane Avenue when a Jeep Cherokee pulled up alongside her. She said that the male driver got out, pulled her into his vehicle and drove away. While the vehicle was traveling on Schuyler Street, she was able to open the door and jump out, and then ran to a house for help.

Dellairo was able to provide detectives with information that subsequently identified 27-year-old Divard Thompson, of 6 Farnsworth Drive in Slingerlands, as the man involved in the incident. However, during their investigation, detectives learned that Thompson had picked-up Dellairo at Duane Avenue and Backus Street after she agreed to perform oral sex on him for money. After performing the sex act, Thompson wouldn’t pay Dellairo and she refused to get out of his truck. After they argued about it for several minutes, Dellairo eventually left the vehicle and walked away. She then claimed that Thompson abducted her.

Dellairo has been charged with the misdemeanors of Prostitution and Making a Punishable False Written Statement. Thompson is charged with the misdemeanor of Patronizing a Prostitute.

Both were issued appearance tickets for Police Court.
