SUBJECT:UPDATE – ARREST MADE IN YATES VILLAGE MURDER


A 28-year-old [not 27 as was previously released] New York City man has been arrested in the shooting death of 16-year-old Alejandro Rodriguez this past Saturday evening at the Yates Village apartments on Van Vranken Avenue.

Schenectady detectives, U.S. Marshals and New York City Police Department members captured Calvin Moore this morning at his mother’s residence in Queens.

Information obtained by investigating detectives implicated Moore in Rodriguez’s death and led them to his mother’s residence.

Moore and Rodriguez knew each other and were arguing when Moore pulled out a handgun and shot Rodriguez once in the chest.

Moore is charged with Murder-2nd degree and is being held at Police Headquarters. He will be arraigned in Police Court at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Chief Michael Geraci stated, “The tireless work of our detectives resulted in an arrest just three days after this senseless killing. The arrest of Calvin Moore is a clear indication of our commitment to apprehending violent criminals in the most expedient manner possible.”
