One of the men shot at 421 Division Street Friday afternoon has been charged with burglary in connection with the incident, as well as another burglary for breaking into a nearby home afterward.

Twenty-year-old Charles E. Little, III, of Troy, and 21-year-old Aaron Peavy, of Albany, went to the Division Street home at about 3:30 p.m. to see one of the residents. After being let inside, they each reportedly displayed a handgun. Peavy reportedly shot at one of the residents and another resident returned fire with a rifle. Peavy was shot once in the heart and died inside the doorway. Little was shot in the left hand, severely injured, and fled. None of the five people inside the house at the time were injured.

Detectives have determined that after fleeing, Little eventually went to 606 Bradley Street, where he broke into the unoccupied house through a basement window and attempted to treat his wound in a bathroom. The resident discovered the burglary when he returned home Friday evening and noticed blood inside the house and towels missing from the bathroom. Detectives believe that Little contacted someone who gave him a ride to Troy where he went to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to Albany Medical Center for treatment and is currently in police custody there. [Little was never brought to Westchester County Medical Center as was released Friday evening]

Little is charged with Burglary-1st degree for the Division Street incident and Burglary-2nd for breaking into the Bradley Street residence. It is anticipated that he will be arraigned later today and remanded to the custody of the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Department.
