SUBJECT:ROTTERDAM MAN NABBED IN BURGLARY SPREE


A 44-year-old Rotterdam man has been arrested for breaking into three businesses in the town and Schenectady, and is a suspect in at least two other city burglaries.

David Coons, of 1817 Casella Road, is charged with Burglary-3rd degree for breaking into Marino’s Pizza on State Street on September 3rd, 2006, and has also been charged by Rotterdam Police for burglarizing the Uptown Beverage store on Altamont Avenue early Monday morning and D’Aurizio’s Pizza on Curry Road early Tuesday morning.

Coons was stopped at 2:15 Wednesday morning while driving on McClellan Street and taken into custody. He is also suspected of burglarizing the Dunkin’ Donuts shop on Watt Street at 1:45 a.m. that morning and Tullock’s gas station on Union Street immediately before he was pulled over.

All of the burglarized businesses were closed at the time of the incidents.

Coons is currently being held in the Schenectady County Jail.

The Schenectady and Rotterdam Police Departments are continuing their joint investigation.
