SUBJECT:BODY RECOVERED FROM MOHAWK RIVER

Detectives are investigating the death of a man found floating in the Mohawk River this afternoon.

A couple walking in Riverside Park at about 1:45 saw the body floating about 20 feet from shore and called police. A Schenectady Fire Department boat responded and recovered the body. There were no obvious signs of trauma.

The body was that of an unknown black male who appeared to be in his 40s, about 510 tall with a thin build. He had black hair with some gray in it and a goatee. The man was wearing a black t-shirt, brown pants and a red bandana on his head. He was not carrying identification.

The body was taken to Ellis Hospital where an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
