SUBJECT:IDENTITY RELEASED OF MOHAWK RIVER DROWNING VICTIM

The 44-year-old homeless man whose body was found floating in the Mohawk River Tuesday afternoon has been identified as Willie Penn.

An autopsy conducted on Wednesday determined that Mr. Penn drowned and that there was nothing suspicious about his death. Toxicology tests revealed that Mr. Penn was highly intoxicated when he died.

A couple walking in Riverside Park at about 1:45 Tuesday afternoon saw the body floating about 20 feet from shore and called police. A Schenectady Fire Department boat recovered the body from the water.
