SUBJECT:Arrest Made in Yesterday’s Chrisler Avenue House Fire

Schenectady Police detectives have charged a city man for intentionally setting a fire yesterday that caused minor damage to a two-family residential structure at 1210 Chrisler Avneue.

Justin C. Swint, 19, of 1210 Chrisler Avenue 2nd floor, has been charged with First Degree Arson, an A-1 felony, for intentionally setting the fire at his residence. Swint was in the process of being evicted at the time he set the fire. The first floor apartment was occupied by three individuals at the time the fire was set. All escaped without injury.

Through the investigation into yesterday’s fire, detectives learned Swint was also responsible for intentionally setting a fire at 710 Congress Street on October 21, 2007. Damage to that residential structure was significant. Swint has been charged with Third Degree Arson, a C felony, for his involvement in that incident.

Swint was held overnight in the Schenectady Police lockup. He will be arraigned this morning.
