SUBJECT:JUVENILES ARRESTED FOR ROBBING ELDERLY MAN

Detectives in the Youth Aid Bureau have arrested 2 boys ages 12 & 13 for robbing a 78-year-old man on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2003 at about 4 p.m. in front of the Subway sandwich shop at 1492 State Street.

The victim had just left the shop when the 2 suspects approached him and forcibly took his wallet. The suspects then ran from the scene. A witness chased the suspects, and during the chase one of them dropped his coat and cell phone. The suspects were tracked down when the mother of the suspect who dropped the cell phone called it and it was answered by a police officer.

The victim was not injured in the incident.

The suspects have each been charged with Robbery-2nd degree and petitioned to Family Court. They were turned over to their parents.
