SUBJECT:PAROLEE CHARGED IN 2 RECENT BANK ROBBERIES


A parolee has been arrested and charged with committing bank robberies in Albany and Schenectady last week.

* Kevin Allen, 35, of Schenectady, is charged with Robbery in the hold-ups of the Charter One Bank on North Pearl Street in Albany on Wednesday (Jan 14th) and the Fleet Bank on Nott Street in Schenectady on Friday (Jan 16th).

Information was developed that implicated Allen in the robberies. On Saturday afternoon (January 17th), Colonie Police were notified that Allen may be staying at the Stardust Motel on Curry Road. As Colonie officers were arriving there, Allen was arriving in a taxicab. Allen was taken into custody without incident.

At the time of his arrest, Allen possessed crack cocaine, heroin, and almost $4,200 in cash. Colonie Police have charged him with felony and misdemeanor counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Allen is currently being held at the Albany County Jail.
