A parolee has been arrested for kidnapping and assaulting a 24-year-old Lake George woman early Tuesday morning (February 24th).

The incident began shortly before 6 a.m. when the woman, who came to Schenectady to visit a girlfriend but was unfamiliar with the area, got lost and ended up on Bradley Boulevard. While on Bradley, the woman saw 2 men outside 250 Bradley and asked them for directions. One of the men gave her directions and then told her that one of her headlights was hanging down. The woman exited her car to take a look and as she bent over to try and fix it, was struck in the head with a football helmet. The man who struck her then dragged her into 250 Bradley. He ordered her to take her pants off and fondle herself. As this was happening, the second man entered the house and began arguing with his friend about what he was doing. While the two were arguing in another room, the victim was able to escape the residence, got into her car and drove to the CVS Pharmacy at Eastern Avenue and Brandywine Avenue for help where the clerk called the police.

The woman (whose identity is not being released) was treated by Schenectady Fire Department paramedics for a contusion to her head and scrapes on her legs.

David L. Cooley, 28, of 3 Hawk Street, Schenectady, has been charged with Kidnapping-2nd degree and Assault-3rd degree. He was arraigned in Police Court and remanded to the Schenectady County Jail. Cooley is currently on parole for a felony assault conviction.

Cooley’s acquaintance was not charged in the incident.

Cooley’s parents live at 250 Bradley Boulevard, but were out-of-town when the incident occurred.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
