SUBJECT: Arrests Made in Recent Robberies

Schenectady Police have made arrests in connection with two recent armed robberies. Assisted by New York State Parole Officers and United States Deputy Marshalls, the investigation into the April 12, 2004 Dunkin Donuts armed robbery at 1200 State Street is closed.

* Julio Jimenez, 27, of B 25 Yates Village, Schenectady, is charged with one count of First Degree Robbery in connection with the April 12 incident.

In the course of the April 12 robbery investigation, Detectives were also able to identify Jimenez as one of the perpetrators of the April 24, 2004 Miss Kimís Hairstylist armed robbery at 351 Duane Avenue. In addition to Jimenez,

* Luis Velez, 23, of 850 Stanley Street, Schenectady, is arrested and charged in connection with that incident. Velez is charged with one count of First Degree Robbery, a class B Felony.

Jimenez was arraigned Thursday in Schenectady City Court and remanded to the Schenectady County Jail. Velez was arraigned this morning in Schenectady City Court. He is in the custody of the Schenectady County Sheriff Department.
